π« The Tailwind AI problem
The creator of tailwind refused to add a LLM.txt to its documentation because, the commercial revenue of tailwind is down by 80% and it just laid off 75% of its engineering team.
Itβs notorious the difficulty for open source devs to make money, but with AI now we donβt have a to go to check the doc ( you should still ), and the business of Tailwind was ads from their prenium UI kit in their doc.
After this got a lot of traction, a lot of big company and tech influencer has donated to Tailwind, which will gave the time to Adam and it team to find a another way to monetize.
π
Open source to closed source ?
Marc j. schmidt a proeminent open-source developer, author of Deepkit or php-fm to cite only them. He write about the damage of AI, where they juste steal the work of everyone without asking or give anything in return.
He decided to let his current project open-source but his newer project will be closed source for now on.
π§ A tech career in 2026
With the rise of AI and the layoffs everywhere the avenir is very grim for tech worker in 2026, but I like the ending of the article.
«  I do hope, though, that people can see that, by sticking together, and focusing on the things that are within our reach, things can begin to change. All it takes is remembering that the power in tech truly rests with all the people who actually make things, not with the loudmouths at the top who try to tear things down. »
