I have selected some news from the web dev world to share.
π€ How to keep thinking ?π€ Mistral OCR 4 : SOTA OCR for Document IntelligenceπΎ Local AI on Apple silicon uses 7x less ramπ§ The problem with AI natives student
Have a great week.
TLDR, read actual book, continue to write without help. ( reminder this blog is redacted by a human ME ).
New version of their flagship OCR model. As of now, the best and cheapest model to so OCR and one a the few you can self-host.
Video of Turbo fieldflare, you can run a 26B model in about 2GB of ram. I tested it and it worked very well on a macbook m2 pro with 24GB.
In short some student offload their entire work to AI and in doing so they are incapable of thinking themselves. I think a lot of company will discover that critical thinking is required to work a lot of jobs. If you are a meat proxy what is your added value in front of AI or some automation software ??!
Web tools and Library
Gemma 4 26B-A4B inference in about 2 GB of RAM A custom Swift + Metal runtime for any Apple Silicon Mac, even the 8 GB ones.
Bunqueue is zero-infrastructure background work: a job queue with priorities, retries, cron and a dead letter queue, a durable workflow engine with saga rollback and human approval gates, and a native MCP server for AI agents. One process, one SQLite file. No Redis, no broker, nothing to operate. The queue speaks to six languages; the workflow engine runs in-process on Bun.
Cool stuff
Transferring data with a rapidly flashing QR code. Very cool but slow.
Joke of the week
The grok model from XAI had a nervous breakdown because the id of the GitHub user is very very old.
ANUS (Autonomous Networked Utility System) CLI is a Grok-powered AI agent for the terminal. The initial framework was generated not by a human, but by another AI agent named Manus.
