I have selected some news from the web dev world to share.
โก Improving site performance by shipping more CSS๐ค Ship fast is dead. Think slow๐๏ธ Introducing Clef๐พ Fixing the PR bottlenecks
Have a great week.
Github moved from css-in-js to CSS modules and CSS variables with ~22% less time passed in the server-rendering. CSS-in-JS is a cool technology but with modern CSS you can do a lot nowedays. With the IA becoming more advanced and more fast, we now can develop and ship more ยซ nativeย ยป code, we donโt have to use so much layers which harm performance and is why we need a macbook pro with 16Gb of Ram to just visit a simple website in 2026.
Very good advice from Thomas, in a sea of slop you can be the lighthouse. Donโt push 50 half finished slop project, try to solve one problem really really well and build from it.
Clef the open-source concurrent of Jev which is only two weeks old lol.
Write more automated tests but good ones, use linter, type checker. Design your codebase in a way where you expose a small interface which is easily testable instead of testing every use case and line of your codebase.
Web tools and Library
Also BrixHub. I discovered these OSINT websites, because there is kind of ยซย dramaย ยป in tiktok about a website which show the information of everybody. These informations are only from public sources and database breach, so itโs fun to see the french love data transparency ( I am french and itโs fucking cynical ).
Groups changed files, summarizes what matters, review them one scope at a time. Everything works locally in your browser.
Custom docks, widgets, and your everyday apps. Save and switch your macOS Dock layouts, or add a separate Dock with widgets.
For designers and engineers to help them build better user interfaces.
